Measuring SMM results: enquiries, sales and KPIs
Followers and reach show only part of the picture. A business needs to know who enquired, what happened afterwards and how much a suitable customer cost to acquire.

Separate levels of results
Views and reach describe visibility. Visits, saves and replies indicate interest. Enquiries and orders represent business actions. Do not substitute one level for another: more reach does not automatically mean more sales.
Define an enquiry
A WhatsApp-button click does not confirm that a message was sent. Agree how sales staff record actual conversations, qualified requests and orders. Offline sales require a consistent way to connect advertising information with company records.
Compare cost and quality
Cost per enquiry is advertising spend divided by recorded enquiries. Compare equivalent periods and definitions. Account for duplicates and unsuitable requests. A cheap message may never become a customer; qualification and follow-up also matter.
Build an actionable report
A useful report links spend, content, audiences, enquiries and team actions. Keep ad spend separate from agency fees. End with decisions: what to retain, change or test next. Set targets after checking the baseline rather than choosing attractive numbers.
Frequently asked questions
Why can messages rise while sales fall?
Audience quality, pricing, availability or response speed may have changed. Review the complete customer journey.
Can exact sales figures be promised upfront?
Without demand, product and lead-handling data, that forecast is unreliable. Agree on hypotheses, a test budget and evaluation rules instead.
